Fashion Careers
Earning a college degree is the first step toward a career in the competitive fashion industry. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported in 2004 that most employers look for candidates with two- or four-year degrees. At fashion school, you'll study textiles, garment sourcing, sewing, and even 3D fashion design software. Most entry-level jobs in fashion come with lower salaries, but gaining valuable experience qualifies designers for higher-paid jobs in the future. Many graduates of fashion degree programs pursue careers as fashion designers, writers, marketers, merchandisers and retail managers.
