Interior Design
As the interior design industry gets more competitive, a college degree has become the minimum requirement for employment as a designer in most cases. About half of U.S. states require designers to be licensed, which involves completing a college degree. To launch your own interior design career, design school is the place to start. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported an average salary of $40,670 for interior designers in 2004. Once designers earn their degree, develop their portfolio, and gain several years' experience, they can become eligible to earn much more.
