Working in Television and Film
Earning a degree in broadcasting, television and radio, or film is the best way to enter the television & film industry. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that competition in this industry is "intense," and that formal training in television and film arts is required for many positions. The Bureau also reported average annual earnings for various television and film professionals in 2004:
- Actors: $11.28/hour
- Producers and Directors for Film and Video: $75,200
- Producers and Directors for Radio and Television: $43,890
A television & film school graduate might also work as a television or screen writer, a member of a film crew, a stage manager, a talent agent, or a television and film marketing and promotion manager.
